I have 17 years experience, apprenticing under Greg Burt and studying under the late Steve Johnson.
I was heavily tattooed at a young age and since then have been fascinated by tattoos. I started my apprenticeship at 30 after travelling the world.
I’m still travelling the world but seeing it through an artist’s eyes, now gathering ideas and inspiration from the colours and different cultures that I meet, influencing my favourite style which is bright, bold and colourful with an eastern flavour.
Creating my own style of ‘kurituhi’, fusing different tribal styles into one piece of art telling its own unique story.
I mainly work on large custom pieces these days, giving me national and international awards.
I keep pushing myself to further my understanding of tattooing and keep moving forward with my career.
I also helped in the writing of standards and procedures producing the ‘D.C.C’s’ tattooing bylaw in 2002 setting the platform for safe tattooing for professional studios in Dunedin.
